I just wanted to share an experience with you guys that I just had with AT&T. In order to get my iPhone to work with the Micro SIM Card I am renting in Israel, I had to unlock the phone. This took a few days and a few calls to AT&T. It wasn't fun.
Then they told me that I had to wipe out my phone, completely, to make the unlock work. have you ever intentionally wiped your phone to factory settings? Even with a backup, it's terribly scary.
To make matters even more interesting, I keep getting warnings in my E-mail, through Israelphones about how important it is to unlock your phone correctly, etc.
So, why am I over-sharing?
First, if you are going through a similar experience, and need help, let me know. I can help. It's a strangely overcomplicated process.
Second, remember how I told you guys not to bring expensive technology and not to bring your phones? See? It's way more trouble than it's worth for you guys (I, of course need it for the blog).
Parents, my Israel phone number will be available in a day or two. As soon as I have it, I will post it on this blog and also see if I can E-mail it to you. Do not hesitate to call if there is an emergency, no matter what time of day or night. I'm at your beck and call.

Brian: Thank you so much for all the information. It is greatly appreciated. Heidi Grossman
ReplyDeleteThank YOU, Heidi. I'm glad that parents and friends are reading and know were here.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, the content will get WAY more exciting soon as students start posting about their experiences in Israel. I'm sure everyone is tired of hearing from me.
I have a question, I'm going on birthright in 2 days and purchased a sim card for my iphone for the trip. My provider said that I might need to hook my phone up to itunes to make sure it works, did you find that you had to do this or did it just work automatically?
